After a few minutes of 3:00 am on August 14, dense smoke drifted into the busbar production workshop of Hailiang Chengdu Bede Copper Co., Ltd.

"Look, Qiu, the factory next door is on fire!" Wang Hai, a night shift worker in the busbar production department, smelled the burning plastic and immediately reported it to the shift leader Qiu Wei.

Qiu Wei found that there was fire and smoke in the warehouse next door, he immediately sent Wang Hai to notify the security personnel and report it to the leadership. With normal knowing of the condition of the warehouse and on-site assessment of it, there are no flammable and explosive materials. As the risks under control, Qiu Wei quickly organized all the night shifts of Bede, including Qiu Wei, Wang Hai, Dan Liuwei and Mou Qiang, Chen Chuan and Li Jiehang, Zhang Chundong and Diao Zhonghua, Luo Changsheng and Teng Jinfu. These ten took all the fire extinguishers in the workshop and rushed to the fire source to put out the fire. Thanks to it was discovered in time and handled promptly and correctly, the fire source was completely extinguished at about 4:10 am.

On August 18th, the commendation meeting of Chengdu Bede Copper Co., Ltd. was held to reward the ten people including Wang Hai and Qiu Wei for the 8/14 firefighting incident.

After this incident, all employees of the Company were expected to learn from colleagues involved in firefighting for they had been calm when encountering dangers and report them immediately. They dealt with the emergency in time and in a scientific, orderly and courageous manner. It not only reduced the loss of the Company next door, but also avoided the fire spreading. People should learn from their excellent and efficient team execution ability and unite as one to jointly overcome crises.

At the same time, the production bases of Hailiang Co., Ltd. are hoped to strengthen their own fire safety awareness training and carry out special fire safety hazard investigations on electrical lines while learning from the successful disposal of fires of Chengdu Bede Copper Co., Ltd. in its neighboring plant to eliminate potential accident hazards and build strong safety precautions.
